Acquisitive Art Awards 2012

The Cancer Outpatients Appeal Acquisitive Art Awards was a roaring success.  It was great to see so many people attend the opening at the Dunn Lewis Centre.

The awards came about after a request to the Cancer Outpatients Appeal from the LINAC committee to help with artwork for the new Nowra Cancer Centre.  The Cancer Outpatients Appeal decided to run an art competition to showcase the southern Shoalhaven region’s artists.  Local artists excelled themselves with their creative and skilled interpretation of the theme “Journeys and Horizons”.

The exhibition was officially opened by artist and cancer survivor Pamela Griffith who described the collection of works as “really beautiful” and the standard of entries was uniformly high.

The Region’s Director of Cancer Services, Anthony Arnold travelled from Wollongong for the event.  Mr. Arnold was very impressed with the quality of the work produced by the artists.

The awarded paintings will hang in the accommodation units at the Nowra Cancer Centre helping create a more welcoming environment for the enjoyment and pleasure of patients whilst undergoing their treatment at the Centre.
